Introducing High Tides — A Cider Made for Rising Together

We’re thrilled to announce the release of High Tides, a collaborative cider that brings together the creativity, craft, and shared values of Ganley & Naish and Sandford Orchards.

Launched as part of British Cider Week, this special release celebrates not only a great cider but the spirit of collaboration that’s driving the future of UK cider forward.

But this isn’t just a new cider—it’s a reflection of what happens when the cider community lifts each other up.

A Collaboration Rooted in Respect

This project came to life through the Breakthrough Cider Maker Award, an initiative from Sandford Orchards aimed at supporting and spotlighting emerging voices in British cider. As the recipient of the award in 2023, Ganley & Naish had the rare opportunity to work closely with Sandford’s experienced team, gaining insight, resources—and, as it turns out—a chance to create something together.

That something became High Tides.

The name is drawn from the old saying:
“A rising tide lifts all ships.”

It’s a tribute to the way Sandford has supported not only us but the broader cider scene with the award — offering guidance, platform, and real encouragement in an industry where small producers can sometimes feel adrift.

Crafting the Blend

The process of creating High Tides wasn’t just collaborative in concept—it was hands-on and deeply educational.

Andy Jenkins, Chief Cidermaker at Ganley & Naish, reflects on the experience:

“It has been a fantastic experience to see how a cider maker with the same ethos produces and packages cider on a much larger scale. Working alongside the team at Sandford Orchards, we carefully blended Sandford, Ganley and Naish cider to achieve the perfect balance. This has been an eye-opening experience—one that I will take back to our cidery to help us improve and refine our craft.”

This ethos of shared learning and mutual respect is exactly what High Tides stands for.

A Label with a Story

If you’re familiar with our cider Hell & High Water, you might recognize a visual echo in the label for High Tides. That design once featured a stormy sea but no lighthouse, which was part of the original Illustration by Cecilie Wicklund Moltberg. Unfortunately, it was located directly where the Ganley and Naish Cider Logo now resides.

Now, in High Tides, that lighthouse finally takes its place. Standing tall and bright, it serves as a beacon: for support, for collaboration, and for the belief that the success of one can guide and benefit many. It’s not just decoration—it’s the heart of the story.

About the Cider

High Tides is a bright, expressive cider crafted with care and balance. You’ll taste the structure and fruit of West Country apples. It’s designed to be approachable but with depth—a cider you can enjoy now, or reflect on later.

Barny Butterfield, Chief Cidermaker at Sandford Orchards, describes the result:

“High Tides is a lovely cider that really incorporates both makers' styles into the bottle. The apples really shine in this blend. Browns bring acidity, Dabinetts bring tannins on the finish, and the vintage bittersweet apples help to give the cider tonnes of body and structure.”

Crafted from fruit and friendship, High Tides is a true reflection of shared values and distinct styles.

Made in small batch, this is a limited run release—available direct from both cideries while stocks last.

Why This Matters

In an industry where collaboration isn’t always the norm, this cider represents a step forward—a quiet but clear reminder that we’re stronger when we work together. It’s proof that even in a competitive market, shared values can lead to shared success. And that the rising tide really does lift us all.

Launching during British Cider Week makes this moment even more meaningful. It’s a time to celebrate the diversity, quality, and innovation in British cider—and High Tides fits right in.

We hope you’ll enjoy drinking High Tides as much as we enjoyed making it.
